It doit y avoir absolument éternité en musique: 我作曲故我在 – I compose; therefore I am.

“Timeless Intonation”, for clarinet, percussion, and contrabass
(2007)

Timeless Intonation

Everything drifts and all music dead when
a vast shadow comes, threatening and covering the ocean
where my lonely island is.
In this darkness, I feel my feeble mind,
my weak body and my wavering fortune
reflecting in the time — an endless stream where
we experience every moment and then lose it.
All memories about poetry only exist on a distant, unknown,
unfathomable beach that we can never reach.
Hence I hear my pale intonating voices reverberating in the space,
like a dream which appears and extends
into the other world.
